Johann Sebastian Bach, Fazil Say - Fantasie und Fuge g-Moll BWV 542

Seit seinem 6. Lebensjahr beginnt der türkische Pianist und Komponist Fazil Say jeden Tag mit dem Spiel eines Klavierwerks von Bach, zahlreiche Originalwerke und Bearbeitungen finden sich in seinen Konzertprogrammen. Seine eigenen Klavierfassungen der berühmten Passacaglia c-Moll wie auch der Fantasie und Fuge g-Moll verstehen sich weder als reiner Einzug der fast durchgehend das Ostinato-Thema tragenden Pedalstimme in die linke Hand, noch als eine rein virtuose Ausschmückung des Originals. Angestrebt ist vielmehr eine phantasievolle Übertragung der flächenhaften Orgelregistratur auf die Klangmöglichkeiten des Klaviers / The Turkish pianist and composer Fazil Say has from the age of sic begun each day with the performance of a keyboard work by Bach; his concert programmes include both numerous original compositions and transcriptions. His own piano transcriptions of the well-known Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor and the Fantasy an Fugue in g minor are neither mere incorporations of the pedal voice with its almost continous ostinato theme into the left hand of the piano part, nor purely virtuoso ornamentations of the original version. His intention is to produce an imaginative transcription of the relatively two-dimensional organ registration utilising the tonal possibilities of the piano
